Government kick off ZWSSGC Program for Results

The Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, in partnership with the World Bank, has launched the Zambia Water Supply and Sanitation Services in Growth Centers Program for Results in Mansa, Luapula Province.

The US$33 million program will expand access to clean water and dignified sanitation while strengthening commercial utilities, including Luapula, North-Western, Western, and Kafubu Water Supply and Sanitation Companies.

Eng. Melvin Sikazwe, Director – Planning and Information at the Ministry, described the program as a timely and strategic investment that will improve service delivery in underserved communities.

Earlier, a delegation including officials from the Ministry, World Bank, and the four participating utilities paid a courtesy call on the Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, who underscored the importance of innovation and accountability in the water sector.

The Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director thanked the Government and the World Bank for the privilege of hosting the five-day orientation workshop, pledging commitment to ensure the program benefits the people.
