Who We Are

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC) is a Commercial Water Utility company providing water and sanitation services to the people of Luapula Province. The Company was established in 2008 under the Companies Act cap 388, and commenced operations in September 2009.

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC) was incorporated under the Companies Act Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia as a limited liability company in December 2008 to provide water supply and sanitation services to all the people in Luapula Province. It is wholly owned by the Twelve (12) Local Authorities in Luapula province.


As a service provider, Luapuala Water has a passionate team of diverse professionals working throughout the province committed to deliver services, efficiently and effectively in the quest to attain excellence.


LpWSC is committed to enhancing service delivery by upgrading its water infrastructure, improving water treatment processes, and expanding pipeline networks. The company's long-term strategy focuses on increasing access to safe water, reducing supply disruptions, and adopting sustainable water management practices to serve the growing population of about 1,519,478 million people in Luapula Province.

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC) is a Commercial Water Utility (CU) which was incorporated in December 2008 under the Companies Act, Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia, as a limited liability company.

The Company was established to provide water supply and sanitation services to all the people in Luapula Province, which Province has twelve districts, and operations of the Company commenced in September 2009. Currently, LpWSC actively operates in five districts, namely, Mansa, Samfya, Mwense, Kawambwa, and Nchelenge.

The Company is yet to commence operations in the other seven districts of Mwansabombwe, Milenge, Chipili, Chembe, Lunga, Chifunabuli and Chiengi. However, operations in Chienge district are expected to commence by end of FY-2025 after completion of the Chiengi Project.

The shareholders of the Company are the Local Authorities in the Province who, in 2010 transferred assets and liabilities to the Company. The CU has the mandate to supply water and sanitation services to all urban and the rural centres of all the Twelve districts of Luapula province, which has a population of about 1,519,478 million with a growth rate of 3.7% (according to the Zambia Statistics Agency).
