Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Partners with GIZ and NEWZA to Improve Water and Sanitation Services in Kabuta

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LpWSC) has partnered with GIZ and Nexus Energy and Water programme for Zambia (NEWZA) to enhance access to safe water supply and improved sanitation services for the people of Kabuta Community in Mansa District.

During a preliminary planning meeting held today at the LpWSC Headquarters, the cooperating partners engaged in an information-sharing session aimed at aligning project priorities and implementation strategies.

Speaking on behalf of LpWSC, the Director of Technical Services Engineer Golden Manyanga provided an overview of the current water supply and sanitation coverage in Kabuta. He noted that the Company is well positioned to expand its service network, having already procured sufficient water meters to support the planned connections.
In response to a question raised by Mr. Patrick, Engineer Manyanga emphasized that community members are engaged from the inception of every project to ensure ownership, acceptance, and sustainability of the initiative.

He further highlighted the transformative impact of similar projects, citing the success recorded in Matobwe Community, which benefited from a GIZ-supported venture that significantly improved residents’ quality of life.

Representing GIZ, Utility Advisor Engineer Ngenda underscored the importance of expediting the sharing of key technical plans and documentation, which are critical to the smooth implementation of the project.

In closing, the Managing Director expressed gratitude to the cooperating partners for their continued collaboration and commitment, and reaffirmed LpWSC’s dedication to strengthening partnerships that deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to communities.
