GIZ and German Embassy Donate 11 New High-Performance Computers to Luapula Water

In a significant move to strengthen digital infrastructure and operational efficiency, Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited has received a generous donation of eleven (11) state-of-the-art Intel i5 desktop computers. The donation was presented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Embassy in Zambia.
The handover ceremony was presided over by the Managing Director of Luapula Water, a representative of the German Embassy.
In his remarks, the Managing Director expressed profound gratitude for the timely support. "This donation is a game-changer for our operational capacity," he stated. "These computers will modernize our administrative functions, data management, and technical reporting systems. Ultimately, this investment directly translates to more reliable, efficient, and transparent water and sanitation services for the communities of Luapula Province."
The donation is part of the ongoing development cooperation between Zambia and Germany, focusing on sustainable water resource management and utility reform. The new hardware will address critical IT gaps, enabling Luapula Water staff to leverage modern software solutions, improve billing and customer service systems, and enhance overall project implementation.
The German Embassy and GIZ delegation reiterated their commitment to partnering with Zambian institutions to achieve sustainable development goals. They highlighted that empowering utilities with the right tools is fundamental to improving water security and sanitation access for all.
