AfDB Monitoring Mission Highlights Impact of Water Infrastructure Investments in Mwense

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC) has received commendation from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for its effective operation and maintenance of water and sanitation infrastructure established under the Integrated Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (ISTWSSP).

The recognition came during a courtesy call on the Luapula Provincial Administration by an AfDB delegation led by Senior Water and Sanitation Engineer, Mr. Herbert Chinokolo, ahead of a monitoring mission to project sites in Mansa District.

Mr. Chinokolo praised Luapula Water for its commitment to sustainably managing the infrastructure developed through the AfDB-supported programme, noting that the Bank was particularly impressed with the performance of water infrastructure in Samfya District.

He expressed confidence in the Company's continued ability to enhance service delivery and expand access to clean and safe water across Mansa, Mwense and Kawambwa districts, where significant investments have been made under the project.

The AfDB delegation further emphasized the importance of increasing household connections and customer enrolment to maximize the impact of the infrastructure and ensure its long-term sustainability. The remarks reaffirm the growing confidence of development partners in Luapula Water's operational capacity and commitment to delivering quality water and sanitation services to communities across the province.

The monitoring mission forms part of ongoing efforts to assess the performance and impact of the Integrated Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project, which continues to improve access to clean water and sanitation services for thousands of households.

Luapula Water remains committed to building on these achievements by strengthening service delivery, expanding access to safe water, and ensuring that investments in water and sanitation infrastructure translate into lasting benefits for the people of Luapula Province.
