Construction of the Segmentation Tank in Chiengi District

Date: 2025-07-31

The construction of a new segmentation tank in Chiengi District is currently underway, representing yet another major infrastructure development aimed at improving water and sanitation service delivery in the area. This critical project, fully funded by the government, is being implemented through Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LpWSC) as part of ongoing efforts to expand and modernize water infrastructure in rural districts.

Once completed, the segmentation tank will play a vital role in enhancing water treatment processes by allowing for the effective separation and settlement of impurities before the water is distributed to the community. This will contribute significantly to the provision of cleaner and safer water, ensuring compliance with national water quality standards.

The project is aligned with LpWSC’s broader mandate to provide reliable and sustainable water supply systems throughout Luapula Province. In addition to improving water quality, the tank will help optimize the performance of existing infrastructure and support future expansion in response to increasing population and demand.

The ongoing works demonstrate the government’s unwavering commitment to investing in critical water and sanitation infrastructure, especially in areas that have historically faced service delivery challenges. When completed, the segmentation tank will stand as a key milestone in Chiengi’s journey toward better health outcomes, environmental protection, and improved quality of life for residents.
