Over 3,000 Residents to Benefit as LpWSC and ZNBS Commission Mansa Garden Estates Water Project

Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC), in partnership with the Zambia National Building Society (ZNBS), today celebrated the successful commissioning of the K6 million Mansa Garden Estates Water Reticulation Project in Chabalamuwe, Mansa District.

The programme commenced with Boardroom Formalities at the LpWSC Head Office, where Project Completion Certificates were formally signed, confirming the successful completion of the construction phase before stakeholders proceeded to the project site for the official commissioning ceremony.

Speaking during the Boardroom session, LpWSC Managing Director Mr.

Mukela Simbuwa said the project directly advances the Company's mandate of providing adequate, reliable and sustainable water supply and sanitation services across Luapula Province. He commended ZNBS for the confidence placed in LpWSC to design, construct and commission the project, describing the partnership as a practical demonstration of institutions working together to create fully serviced communities.

Officially commissioning the project, Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Mrs. Prudence Chinama Kangwa, whose speech was delivered by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Evans Sikabbuba, reaffirmed Government's commitment to investing in resilient water infrastructure that supports improved public welfare, sustainable urban development and economic growth.

Representing the LpWSC Board Chairperson, Dr. Josephine Mwanza described the project as a transformative public asset, noting that its true value will be reflected in healthier communities, improved quality of life and the opportunities it creates for both present and future generations.

Valued at approximately K6 million, the project has delivered over 12.4 kilometres of HDPE water distribution pipeline and will provide clean, safe and reliable piped water to more than 3,000 residents across over 400 households in Mansa Garden Estates.

The ceremony also featured the symbolic handover of the completed infrastructure by LpWSC to ZNBS, followed by its official handback to LpWSC for long-term operation and maintenance. His Royal Highness Chief Chimese urged residents to protect the infrastructure from vandalism, while stakeholders concluded the event with a symbolic tree-planting exercise in support of environmental sustainability.
